Office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Office of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs (ADSA) is the arm of the Office of the Dean that deals with matters concerning student activities and welfare. Its primary tasks are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Administer available undergraduate student scholarships<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Oversee the recognition of all college-based student organizations, including their operations and activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Work in coordination with all engineering service organizations, primarily, the Engineering Student Council and the Inhenyero<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Handle the selection process for the annual UP Engineering Student Awards<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Coordinate with academic units of the college on matters regarding their students <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The Associate Dean for Student Affairs supervises the conduct of activities related to the functions of the office and is assisted by a Research and Extension Specialist. Committees on scholarships and student organizations, both appointed by the Dean of the College of Engineering, serve as auxiliaries of the Office of the ADSA.

    Office of the College Secretary<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    The Office of the College Secretary is the official keeper of records, overseer of registration and scholastic evaluation of students at the college level. It serves as the liaison of the college to various offices in the University. It is in constant communication with sections of the Office of the University Registrar such as Admission and Registration Section (ARS), Computerized Registration and Student Records Section (CRSRS), Records Management and Appraisal Section (RMAS), and Publication and University Council Secretariat Section (PUCSS). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Goals of the Office of the College Secretary<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    1. To advocate awareness on pertinent University and college policies, rules and regulations related to admission, registration, progress and graduation of students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. To ensure the smooth flow of activities related to admission, registration, progress and graduation of students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. To safeguard the integrity of the permanent academic records of students from admission to graduation and beyond.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. To provide efficient and friendly service to faculty, students and the community. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Functions of the Office of the College Secretary <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Implements University and college policies, rules, thrusts and priorities related to admission, registration, progress and graduation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Coordinates with departments and other offices in the college, and with various offices in the University in relation to admission, registration, progress and graduation of students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Prepares, facilitates and conducts activities related to admission, registration, progress and graduation of students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Manages and appraises students records from admission to graduation and beyond.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Conducts orientation on University and college policies and rules among new students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      6. Addresses concerns of faculty, students, and the community related to admission, registration, progress and graduation of students. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Office of the Associate Dean for Instructions<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

        The Office of the Associate Dean for Instruction (ADI) spearheads undertakings providing the successful realization of the College of Engineering\u2019s operations via education programs and designs which would cover curriculum development, instructional planning and the creation of ways and means towards student critical thinking. It complements the activities of the Office of the Associate Dean for Research in directing research with a mind to the creation of innovative teaching-learning methods and materials that reflect high standards of accreditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The ADI office plans and conducts outlets for problem-solving needs and for securing a conducive instruction atmosphere. It is tasked to manage interactive and cooperative relations with outside agencies as a marketing strategy for institutional trust and credibility. In basic relationship to the above functions and responsibilities, however, the Office of the Associate Dean for Instruction under supervision of the College Dean, develops and monitors the instructional budget and financial resources. As in all concerns in any organization, this monetary aspect is a basic need for goals and projects to pilot off the ground and to move on if at all, towards successful achievement. To sum it up, the Office of the Associate Dean strives to integrate in its various undertakings: current educational technology, creative scholarship and innovative research and instruction styles – all these in furtherance of the three-pronged COE thrust of Knowledge, Progress and Integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
